The purpose of this project is to:

              1. Use the Internet to collect information about what was
              happening in time on the day you were born.
              2. Use the questions to record your notes on the project handout sheet.
              3. Use the information to compile a slide show about

            Part 3--Putting It All Together

              After you gather all of your information you will summarizing the events and conditions which occurred at the time you were born. You will present your results as a Power Point slide show.

1. How many days old are you? - Enter your date of birth. For example if your birthday is the 3rd July, 1988, you would
enter 03  07  1988,  and then click on 'Calculate Duration'. 

What day of the week were you born?  What day of the week will you celebrate your 21st birthday?

2.What's in a Name? -  Your parent's very carefully chose the name you would carry for the rest of your life. But what does it mean? On this web site, you will see a list of names in alphabetical groups. Click on the group that would contain your first name.

You may also wish to search for the meaning of your family name i.e. your surname.

3.What is your astrology sign according to the Chinese calendar?  Descibe an average person born under that sign.

Do you also know your zodiac sign according to the horoscope?  Which elements of this description best suit your personality. Illustrate both examples with your astrological symbols.

4.What was the weather like on the day that you were born?  If you can’t locate the exact information, then include the average daily temperatures for that time of the year.

5.What special holidays or celebrations are held around the world on this day?  List the celebration and the country.  Choose one of these and write a paragraph describing how this day is celebrated.

6.What happened in history on your birthday?  -  At this site you'll find events in world history that occured on your birthday. Put in your birth date and click on Go. Find an interesting event that happened on the same date as your birthday (it may not be the same year) and record it on your sheet.

Include any Famous People who also share your birthday.

On this site you can search by year to find significant events in world history. You can also find notable birthdays and other historical events.

The Time Capsule site is great but be aware that is has a US bias.
