For many millions of years,
And so our wildlife has evolved in isolation, adapting to
meet only the demands made by the climate.
Since the coming of the European settlers in 1788 however,
much has changed. For the settlers
brought with them rabbits, cats, pigs,
foxes and other creatures which soon escaped into the bush
and became feral. Only humans, with
their need for land and its subsequent destruction of
habitats, represent a greater danger to
these creatures.
