Welcome to 5 Red
The year has been
quiet busy already and we’re only one week into the term. I hope all families have
had a wonderful break over Christmas and the New Year and are ready for the big
year ahead. We welcome 6 new families to our college who have been placed into
5 Red.
Throughout the first
week, the boys have been engaged in cricket and swimming trials, music
auditions, testing and some school work in between. The boys have even managed
to give Mr Greene a hand in planting a number of young plants in the new 5 Red
garden.
Throughout this term
our class will be engaged in topics that cover ‘Being Australian’ and
‘Aboriginal Culture’. If you have any aboriginal artefacts/items at home, we
would love to display them in the classroom.
Our new maths
program involves the students to be more hands on as they discover what it
means to be a typical student. Go Maths will still be completed on a weekly
basis.
The Sound Waves
program has been introduced to our college which is to assist all with their
spelling. The class has had an interesting week attempting to sound out various
consonant and vowel sounds.
The class seems to
have settled in well over the week as they get used to their new routines.
Should any parent need to contact me, you may phone the college office or
contact me through the college email – crispk@njc.qld.edu.au
I look forward to
meeting many of you throughout the year.
Kind regards
Kevin Crisp
